My name is Skylar Hamons and I am
from a little town called China. Its population is only 1,128. I have lived in
small towns all my life, so it is a big change for me to move to a place like
College Station. I moved in with my older sister and we definitely have a full house. There is a pet rat, a hedgehog, and my Australian Shepherd puppy living with us. My puppy's name is Maya and she is 16
weeks old. She is so hyper and loves to jump and fetch all her toys you
throw for her. I have played sports my whole life. Since I was four years old I have played basketball. I also played volleyball and track in middle school. When I got to high school I started doing powerlifting and I went to regionals twice. I placed 4th and 5th out of 10 girls in my
weigh class. I have a pretty big family. I have a little stepbrother and stepsister that are in elementary school. My older sister that I live with just graduated from Texas A&M University this past May with a degree in Horticulture. I plan to go to A&M, but I don’t know what I am
going to study yet. I was planning on studying to be a dental hygienist and moving to Tyler, Texas where my dad's side of the family lives. My uncle is a dentist and I think it would be fun to work with him. I don't have any knowledge as a dental hygienist but when I go visit I get to walk around and observe and ask questions. If I don’t become a dental hygienist
I would want to work with kids. I would either start up my own daycare or I maybe even
do something with animals. I love animals, I have had German Shepard’s since I
was a baby. I would enjoy working with
animals as a veterinary physician. I have a lot of interest as you can tell so I will just
have to see where school takes me.

Skylar, Love it. My buddy Rix had a pet rat in college. One summer I rat-sat for him, allowing the rat to live in my apartment. He was a great pet. Lots of fun and very affectionate. Be sure to post some pics at some point of your rat and hedgehog and Australian shepherd. I'm an animal lover as well. I would have deleted my Facebook account years ago if it wasn't for all the great animal pics and videos I get to see. Now get us some pics!
ReplyDeleteSkylar, it is cool how you own a hedgehog i have always thought they were the cutest. but moving to CSTAT from your little town must be very hard! but I'm sure as time passes you will get use to it. I feel you thought about not really knowing what you want to do just yet, cause I'm in the same boat. as time passes you will eventually know!

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen your dog but I love it already! if you want to do something with animals, think about being a service dog trainer. there is always a need for service dogs! just an idea! i loved hearing your story!!

ReplyDeleteHello Skylar, It is really cool that you love animals and that you have so many interesting pets living with you. I personally fear dentists, but think that would be really fun to get involved with as a career, especially with a laid back family member.
